Veils - A Graphic Novel

Weird but good! A friend gave it to me and when I gave it a chance, I really enjoyed it. A few key things about this book that are interesting -- it's a story within a story that switches time periods. When it does, the illustrations shift from those surreal, kind of cheesy looking edited photographs to the drawn/painted sections. It has erotic parts so it's definitely not for kids. I dismissed it as silly before reading it but it turned out to be a neat story with a smart, though originally eurocentric heroine - solid character development, feminist themes and a great twist despite how quick it is to finish. If you love it, it will inspire you to create your own graphic novel. And if you hate it you'll be even more inspired to create your own.

I prefer "true" trades but will consider gc and btz.
