Settlers, Please Read

Description

CW: Residential Schools

Everything on my profile is available to trade for a donation to any of the Indigenous Organizations noted below. Every item generally has a noted ISO value, and this can be swapped for a donation.

I am not going to speak for Indigenous voices, so please educate yourself and read the TRC if you haven’t already. The photos are pertinent info from @oncanadaproject. I will say, if you aren’t disturbed, you aren’t listening. And if you feel like chatting more about what Settlers can do, message me.

For anyone who is directly affected by Residential Schools, (survivors, intergenerational trauma from RS, 60s Scoop, other genocide in Canada) and are need of support, please reach out to the 24/7 emotional and crisis services Residential School Hotline at: 1-866-925-4419

  • Native Women’s Resource Centre: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/10351
  • Native Youth Sexual Health Network: https://www.nativeyouthsexualhealth.com/donate
  • Anishnawbe Health Toronto: https://supportanishnawbe.ca/donate/make-a-donation/
  • Caring Society: https://fncaringsociety.com/donate
  • Indian Residential School Survivors Society: https://www.irsss.ca/donate

If you have an organization that you work with directly or know beyond these, please send me a message first. A lot of organizations that claim to be for Indigenous folks are run by white people or the government. The orgs above have all been vetted by social workers and healthcare workers in the Indigenous space.

PS. It is a privilege in itself to not need any items in returns for trades. Because I am financially stable right now, I can use Bunz in this way and be okay - which is extremely fortunate and in many ways reminds me of one of the endless ways of how I benefit from being a Settler.

If you are feeling like you don’t know how to support right now and are in need of items in exchange for money, anything on my profile can be yours for a small donation. It’s a win-win, and if you don’t have the financial ability to donate right now, consider also accepting donations for items on your profile or liking this post for more visibility.
