Bunz is broken…

Description

I want to remind everyone that this quote does not only refer to tangible items, relationships, and careers, but also also to apps. Lately, for me, bunz is sparking a lot more frustration and anxiety than joy.

As a longtime user of this app, the way that bunz handled the recent update was incredibly shortsighted and revealed to me that current ownership could not care less about its core user base. Giving only a couple days notice via a public post that all messages (among other things) will be be permanently deleted, was a big F U to anyone that might have pending trades for which they need to remain in contact with other users. Anyone that didn’t happen to see the update post or login to bunz over the weekend would be met with a hot mess of an app when they returned.

In no particular order, here are some of the ways that bunz managed to break bunz earlier this week. I’m hopeful that some of these issues will be addressed in the coming updates, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if they’re not. I encourage anyone reading to share their own experiences regarding the update on their own page, or by leaving an honest review in the App Store.

  1. The inability to delete, archive, prioritize, and name chat messages. Messaging chains can be started without even saying anything, and that chat will permanently live in both users’ inbox in the same position. Newer chats will always be higher up, even higher than older chats that have received a reply. Since chats are always linked to items, multiple different chats can be started with the same person. Please just let me arrange my chats the way that I want to instead of doing it for me in the most cluttered and backwards way imaginable. The older chat system was better in every single way.

  2. The existing iso list has been deleted. Users (including myself) that have devoted significant time and energy into generating a current and aesthetically pleasing iso list no longer have access to it. If a new iso system is replacing the old and the old needs to be deleted for this to happen, a warning would’ve been nice. Or even better, access to the old iso list (in the form of images or pdf document) would’ve made it easier to create the new one.

  3. Completed and available trade items have been merged. Yes, bunz mentioned that only the account owner can see the unavailable items (they are not visible to people browsing your page), but I don’t want to see my unavailable items. There is no way to delete posts or even mark them as pending. It’s currently impossible to keep chats and listings organized and to understand what’s going on at a glance.

  4. Past reviews are gone. I’ve lost lost almost 600 five star reviews, most of them with kind messages that would offer me some comfort when I’m feeling down. It seems like this has been done to pave the way for some mountain-based tier system. So yes, users with hundreds (or even thousands) of reviews have the same reputation as a brand new account. This makes it more difficult to determine who is trustworthy.

  5. UI bugs as far as the eye can see. I can’t see my followers or the people that I’m following. I also can’t see the people that liked my post or the likes on other posts. I can’t swipe from the far left of my screen to go back to the previous page. Post images can’t be viewed in full screen zoomed in, and many of the images are just repeats of the first. There are text alignment issues and the page jumps all over the place when creating posts (I had to type this in my notes app). There’s more, but this is already long enough, thank you for reading.
