We lost one of mountaineering’s greats this week.

**Nirmal “Nimsdai” Purja** was killed in an avalanche on **Broad Peak in Pakistan on July 30**, along with nine other climbers.

If you don’t know who he was, watch ***14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible*** on Netflix.

In 2019, Nims climbed all **14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks in just 189 days** — a feat that completely changed what many people thought was possible in high-altitude mountaineering. He later completed all 14 without supplemental oxygen as well.

**Rest in peace, Nimsdai — and all those who were lost with him.**

Bunz will grow only if people naturally find value in using it.
If that behavior doesn’t form, no amount of effort will sustain it.
You can’t force adoption.

You can’t artificially keep it alive.

And if those conditions are met, you can’t even kill it either.
What you can do is accelerate the process.


If you believe in it, don’t try to “save” Bunz.
Just make it visible.

Tell people. Share it.
Post it on Reddit ( this should do most !!, Instagram, TikTok  wherever you are.
Use the share feature ( share your posts cross platform , u have this feature ). Start conversations.


And be confident you’re not asking for a favor , you’re actually doing one.
You’re serving an option to get things without money,
a strong and proven instrument to control unnecessary consumerism,
and a more real, more enjoyable social network to join —
where people can also do their part to keep the planet clean.


In theory, even one student in a dorm at UofT can adopt Bunz.

I haven't been posting the numbers regularly because, so far, nothing particularly interesting has happened.

And honestly, that's probably the second-best outcome this campaign could have produced.

The message I'm getting is becoming quite clear:

Other than a relatively small group of people who still believe in the Bunz idea - and I'm obviously one of them - there doesn't seem to be much interest left.

And that's fair.

When I first took over Bunz, I constantly read comments like:

*"Bring back the old Bunz."*

*"You ruined this community."*

...and many more.

You have no idea how painful those were to read, especially when I knew they were pointing at things I simply hadn't had the chance to fix yet.

Today, I don't feel that pain anymore.

Almost everything people complained about has been fixed.

The app has been rebuilt.

Of course, some former Bunzers will disagree, and that's their right.

But I can honestly say this without ego:

**The app itself is no longer the problem.**

The only major difference between the old Bunz and today's Bunz is the number of users.

And yes...

that's the one thing I haven't been able to fix.

But that's also why I don't carry the same frustration anymore.

The app I wanted to build now exists.

It cost me a lot of time.

It cost me a lot of money.

No problem.

I don't regret a single dollar or a single hour.

I'm genuinely happy I was able to offer this version of Bunz to the world.

Am I disappointed that more people didn't embrace it?

Of course.

But that's fair too.

It is what it is.

So, long story short...

As of today, we are nowhere near a sustainably growing Bunz.

I love you all.

Those who love Bunz.

Those who hate Bunz.

On social media, they're almost the same thing.

Both mean you care enough to react.

I'll keep updating you until September 1.

And believe it or not...

I still personally believe Bunz will find the growth it needs before that day.

Today I wanted to share something a little more interesting than the daily numbers.

The first chart shows our daily active users.

The other charts show **retention** in cities like **Toronto, Montréal, Willowdale, Richmond Hill, Hamilton, Mississauga, Markham, Brampton, New York City**, and a few others.

In simple terms, retention answers one question:

**When someone starts using Bunz... do they come back?**

The answer is:

**Yes.**

Quite consistently.

Our core users keep coming back.

That's something I'm genuinely proud of.

Ironically, Bunz's biggest challenge isn't keeping users.

It's finding new ones.

If we solve that one problem, I honestly believe Bunz could look very different.

I’m sharing this because the question is no longer whether Bunz exists.

**It does.**

The question is whether enough people want to use it before **September 1**.

**If Toronto uses it, Bunz stays.**

**If not, it closes.**
