Mechanical Alarm Clock

Description

An older, mechanical IKEA Dekad alarm clock.

These days the IKEA Dekad alarm clocks are quiet, using newfangled quartz and electricity. This clock is mechanical. It produces a loud ticking sound, it needs winding, it uses physical bells, and one round of ringing per winding of the alarm. It has no concept of AM or PM, so you need to wind it before bed, unless you also want it to ring during dinner or not ring in the morning.

The small face beneath the 12 indicates when the alarm is set for. Around 15cm tall, 10cm diameter, and 8cm deep. The clock needs to be wound to run, the bells need to be wound to ring. Do not over-wind the mechanisms. Only wind in the directions indicated for each knob. Knobs with keys are for winding the clock and bells. Knobs without keys set the clock and alarm times. The recessed +- slider tweaks the timing; adjust as needed if the clock runs slow or fast.
